Nessa at 8 weeks
|
In 2006, having been a successful breeder of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for fifteen years, I traveled to the Cruft's Dog show in England to watch them compete in the Toy dog classes. Still in town the following day, I went back to the venue to see the Sporting dogs. I happened to see what I can only describe as "giant cavaliers"! They looked like blenheims but with ballet legs and a graceful stride that caught my breath. I returned to the U.S. determined to have one of these beauties for myself. After a year of research and finding that there were few in the states, I found the breeders of Canadian champions in Toronto where the Irish Red and White Setter had been officially recognized. One of Dr. Patricia and Dr. Albrecht Ua Saighail's bitches, coowned with a breeder in North Carolina, Jane Benedetto, was due to whelp. Aislingcudo Mairnealaigh Dil "Nessa" became mine at eight weeks in the summer of 2007.
